How to Study Using This Tool

Purpose

Bible Study Compass is designed to assist the reader in approaching Scripture thoughtfully and reverently by recognising God’s divisions within His Word.

This tool does not replace personal Bible study. Rather, it provides a framework that helps prevent confusion by identifying audience, age, and calling before application is made. This website is provided as a study aid. Scripture is not sold or restricted.

Begin with observation

When reading a passage of Scripture, begin by asking:

  • Who is speaking?

  • Who is being addressed?

  • In which age or dispensation does this occur?

  • Who is the appointed minister during this time?

These questions help establish context, which must come before interpretation or application.

Use the timeline

The timeline shows where each portion of Scripture fits within God’s unfolding purpose.

As you read:

  • Refer to the timeline to identify the age

  • Note whether the passage is directed to Israel, Gentiles, or the Church which is His Body

  • Observe whether the instruction is doctrinally applicable today, transitional, or future

This prevents mixing instructions given to different peoples at different times.

Allow Scripture to interpret Scripture

This site presents Scripture without commentary so that the reader may compare Scripture with Scripture.

Cross-references are provided through external Bible tools for convenience, but interpretation and application remain the responsibility of the individual believer before God.

Application comes last

Only after establishing:

  1. the audience

  2. the age

  3. the calling

should personal application be considered.

Right division does not diminish Scripture — it honours it by allowing each passage to speak as God intended.

A final encouragement

Study slowly and always after prayer. Eph 1:17 Read carefully. Be willing to let Scripture correct assumptions.

“Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.”
